“Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.“– James 1 : 27
The definition of religion is a controversial and complicated subject in religious studies with scholars failing to agree on any one definition. Oxford Dictionaries defines ‘religion’ as the belief in and worship of a superhuman controlling power, especially a personal God or gods.
Let’s leave aside what internet has got to say about religion, the truth is our Creator never brought forth a religion, instead HE established a harmonious path for mankind to walk on. Man, being created in the image and likeness of God, has failed to do the utmost responsibility – taking care of those in need. In 2020, as we all are well aware, lakhs of people lost their lives and we have paid our condolences. Is that enough?.. Or Can we do something more to help the desperate?
Our LORD is the ‘Father of the Fatherless’ and the ‘Defender of Widows’..
On this day of remembrance of ‘World War Orphans Day’..it’s important to know that according to UNICEF (the United Nations Children’s Emergency Fund), there are roughly 153 million orphans worldwide. What can you do to bring a smile on these innocent faces?..Include an act of charity in your to-do list today!
India, with an estimated 46 million widows, has overtaken China (44.6 million) to become the country with the largest number of widows. Especially, 2020 has increased the number of emotionally broken and financially hopeless families. Wouldn’t it be a joy to share our bounty with them so that together we can glorify the One who made us?..Think about it!
This data is only about one reason that’s polluting mankind..What about all the other sins that people commit even without realizing its drastic effects on their family, society and to their soul!..The irony is ‘we still say we are religious when we don’t even obey what the religion says!’
